7 of ROYALS Youth Club members were amongst  the amazing 104 young people from clubs and youth organisations across Havering at the Queens Theatre Hornchurch on Monday 3rd October 2016. They came together to receive prestigious Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards.

The event honoured Achievement Award winners aged 11-25 who received medallions to go with their framed certificate and a cheque for £250 each, already presented.  They were nominated by their peers and leaders, winning awards for a variety of achievements big and small but always for doing their best.

Liam, from ROYALS Senior Youth Club told us  “ I was nervous to be the first to go up but the event was surprising, wasn’t at all what i expected. It was theatrical and very enjoyable”.

Liam was nominated for his volunteering work at the ROYALS Senior Youth Club, where he always supports others and gets involved, he has also been running and organising the tuck shop.

We are so proud of the achievements of all of the young people we work with and have already started nominating more young people for the next award!

So far the Award winners have decided to spend their £250 Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards on trips, resources and activities for both the Junior and Senior Youth Clubs. Further supporting our organisation and the wider community in Rainham

The achievers and their families were also treated to an opening speech from Paralympic Gold Medallist and Channel Four Commentator Danny Crates. Danny commented; “I have just got back from the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. I was in awe of the Paralympians who demonstrated you can reach the highest goals with dedication and belief. The young people at the Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards are also inspiring because they show what this generation is capable of. They support their local communities, achieve in sports and motivate their friends. Just like Paralympians as Sir Jack says „if you think you can, you can.‟ I was delighted to present these awards which recognise what the young people of Havering do.”

Alongside the awards were amazing performances from young people and local youth groups.
